but i agree with you that it was better. its sad how there's no more "song of the summer" that everyone knows, people organically getting exposed to new artists, etc.

In the old days, people would wander down to the local pub and listen to a fiddler or a piano player for a couple hours, drink a few and end up singing and dancing with friends, old and new, until well after dark. And that would be a Tuesday. And people would buy the house a round, and everyone would cheer, and no one was hungry, and no one was homeless. This is also where local young folk would meet each other and maybe ask one to dance. In the old days. This is what it was like.
