I'm planning on filing for bankruptcy after being left with tens of thousands in credit card debt from my ex-husband. He said he would pay it in our divorce proceedings, but he hasn't made a single payment in three years and it's only gotten worse. He also hasn't helped me at all with our four kids. I'm completely responsible for them 100% of the time, physically and financially. So I really have no choice but to file for bankruptcy so that I can focus on raising my kids who need a mother that isn't working multiple jobs to pay off debt from their deadbeat dad.
My therapist encouraged me to try to include my student loans in my bankruptcy as she got hers dismissed in bankruptcy decades ago and said its easier because of changes made by Biden in 2022.
When I used chatGPT to see how to do it, chatGPT said I'm an ideal candidate for loan dismissal through bankruptcy because my income dropped 30% (I was working 3 jobs and just lost one--thanks Trump) and my student payment jumped up (it wouldve been $450 under Biden, but it's $800 now and will jump to $1500--thanks Trump) and I'm a single mom with four young kids.
I know that chatGPT isnt always accurate, but it must be pulling this information from places on the internet that show its possible. Has anyone on here had success including student loans in bankruptcy? Any insight? Advice? Suggestions?
Thanks!
Edit: Thanks for those of you offering insight and suggestions! To be clear, I know the inaccuracies with chatGPT and dont need repeated messages about why chatGPT can't be trusted. This started because I spoke with someone who got loans dismissed in bankruptcy and encouraged me to explore it. From there I went to chatGPT, to reddit, and next I'll contact a lawyer. Asking for insight on here will help me in finding a lawyer and asking the right questions.
