It must work for them, but sharing a room in someone’s house is not the same as getting s hotel. Also AirBNB comes with a hefty service fee/cleaning fee that will exceed local accommodation taxes. All in all, it’s a pretty hard service to use and it’s set up more for people looking to host a party than anything else. The house parties are a huge problem. You can rent a large house with a pool for like $2,500/night then invite 500 people over and charge them $30 a head. Provide $5,000 in alcohol, pay a DJ $500, and bill your house party just ended up netting you $7,000. So what if someone gets drunk and starts a fight. It’s not your house and some of that $7k will cover breakage. Or let’s say you’re a high school kid who does this and wants it to be only 20 people or so. You each pitch in $150 from your server jobs. Next thing you know Jayden shared it with Charize who put it on Insta and 1,000 people show up. People are just terrible and should not be allowed to use AirBNB to throw parties. |
