but he loved mass immigration and the USA having asymmetrically low tariffs, which meant our industrial base would be hollowed out -- a process that rapidly accelerated under BushI and Clinton. Reagan was the old school Republican who catered to corporate profit. it's funny because antifa was very active in protests against that strategy back in the day.
Trump uses tariffs to try to level the playing field against nations that use tariffs against the USA but enjoy a low-tariff regime by the USA.
so it's a clever ad for Ontario to run, but ultimately it's in support of allowing Canada to gape the USA with tariffs and enjoy low tariffs when they sell into the USA. |

in trumps case tariffs arent even intended to bring back manufacturing cause theres no plan to do so, no tax credits, training, incentive schemes, nothing. all tariffs are doing is moving imports from one country to another, in most cases though it will just increase prices since cmops will continue buying from china since they have little to no choice |
