This is a great example of why Wikipedia cannot be trusted for anything anymore:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_lab_leak_theory

Available evidence indicates that SARS-CoV-2 was originally harbored by bats and transmitted to humans through infected wild animals serving as intermediate hosts at the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan, Hubei, China, in December 2019.[3][7] Several candidate animal species have been identified as potential intermediate hosts.[14] There is no evidence of genetic engineering, no indication that SARS-CoV-2 existed in any laboratory prior to the pandemic, and no record of suspicious biosecurity incidents at any laboratory.[15][16][17][18]

"remains highly controversial; scientific consensus holds that the virus spread to human populations through natural zoonotic transmission from bats, similar to the SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV outbreaks, and consistent with other pandemics throughout human history."

"scientific consensus"? jfc.

Btw they've never even found the "bats" that were the original vector for the virus - unlike SARS and MERS where they found the animal reservoir within a year.

Nevermind that the Wuhan Market wasn't even a place where you could buy and eat bats or whatever they are pretending....

It's crazy how the WIV was literally sending a woman out to the rural caves to go find bats infected with coronaviruses to study them...when accordign to Wikipedia they were just right next door in the middle of a major city the whole time!

yeah you need to have sort of a sixth sense for discounting anything that could be politically unpopular in the editors' community. some of it's easy to do (eg democrat vs republican controversies) but sometimes it just comes out of left field and you need to be aware of the issue in the first place in order to be aware of it

How does this one even come to be though? Has no one ever tried to point out that the US Government, multiple US and foreign intelligence agencies, and anyone with common sense think lab leak is the probable cause?

Is it Chinese money or something?

not to mention the participants in the infamous Lancet article -- before Fauci and Collins started twisting arms.

This another gem which is blatantly false "Proponents of the lab leak theory typically omit to mention that most large Chinese cities have coronavirus research laboratories."

jfc. iirc, Wuhan was the first and is still only one of three (BSL-4) labs in China.
