It has big industry and you can get a good paying job and have a good life the easiest there. You mention crime, flooding, hurricanes, and immigrant drivers as downside. Crime, flooding, immigrant drivers are a problem all across Texas. Hurricanes only really affect the coasts, and they do suck, but that is truly a once every couple of years occurrence. Houston is cheaper and easier to break into upper middle class life there than Dallas. That's why it edges out Dallas. Both cities have world class airport connections to get out of Texas. They really are the only two viable choices for most people. If you're super rich you can just live in a desirable place and never come to Texas, where to be entirely fair, "Best in Texas" may get you into the show, but you're still the "Tallest Dwarf at the Circus." |
