it's legitimately insane and has been since Nov/Dec 2025. all of those features that normally require scoping, requirements gathering, scrum, debug, review, you just knock them out in 10 minutes. i am producing better quality everything at 20x-50x the speed i was before.

and the thing is that you only realize how amazing this stuff really is if you have been doing software dev. it's over. there is no coming back from this. everything will be replaced.

i had an ongoing project list that might be doable by a good team over a 2 year slog. realistically it can be done in under 4 months by 1 person now.

what if it's only great at programming because it's so logical and linear, but can't really produce more abstract stuff?

fair point.

my only relevant observation is that the latest model "Opus" appears to be able to abstract patterns in ways that leave you stunned reading the output.

My experience is that it does not one shot complex projects. You can do complex and abstract things if you break it down into small tasks like you would for a junior dev. You still do the engineering and design, it does all the boring rote work.

I’m not a doomer but not everyone is going to adjust to this way of working.

for anyone with an actual job, having to deal with the brainless mud ppl who use terms like "scrum" and "requirements gathering" as a core part of their career is the most depressing shit you ever encounter. it's actually worse than dealing with HR dei negresses and/or internal audit cumfarters.

Humans are just information processing organisms with a fatal runtime error - consciousness. We have no chance against The Machine imo.

it's just incompatible with a socioeconomic system that depends on perpetual cancerous growth. if things worked some other way it could probably be put to use somehow. but we have reached the terminus of our paradoxical nature at this point.

Things do work some other way. The perpetual growth thing is just because everything sucks too much for the system to work otherwise. If people don’t expect growth they don’t invest and there’s no Liquidity. It’s just a psychological thing imo.

If technology advances so that things suck less then suddenly Games take less time to make and this has huge ramifications imo. Imagine having Zelda as soon as 2029 rather than 2033. It’d be unbelievable.

Anyway, irl things work based on phenotype and the other stuff is just smoke screen. You’re like “what about Fake Jobs” meanwhile Clavicular is expressing phenotype nbd either way.

probably my biggest gripe and reason for switching to gpt pro
