A big thematic point of that film Zardoz is how bizarre and sterile the Immortals are, where every carnal desire they have is offset in a quasi-sacral sense either in regard to violence (dumping guns on proles regarded to be little better than animals) or sexuality (sublimated into the implicit comedy of their perverse displays of titillated scientific voyeurism), juxtaposed against Reynolds' character's very human libidinality and vitalism of the spirit
