Went to Japan with my kids, my wife, my brother and sister, and my sisters boyfriend. Flew business class to Tokyo from LA. The flight was on Singapore Airlines. Was super nice, the food was amazing, and the kids had a blast.

In Tokyo we stayed at the Peninsula Hotel. The next day we did a food tour in the Harajuku. We then went to several temples and capped it off with doing a few of the pet cafes. The kids really enjoyed that.

The next day we went to Disney Tokyo and stayed at the Miracosta hotel that is connected to Disney Sea. The hotel is really hard to get and we had to stay up until like 2am to get it booked. We got park view rooms and ate at the fancy pre fixe restaurant that was very very good.

The first day we did the Magic Kingdom. It was hot as fuck. But we had several fast passes that allowed us to avoid most of the lines. We got on most of the rides we wanted to do by like 3pm and then spent the rest of the time hanging out in the hotel.

The next day we did Disney Sea. It is a very unique park and had some rides like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. They also had different popcorn stands that had unique flavors like Roast Beef. There were about 6 flavors and we tried them all.

The next day we took the J Rail to Kyoto where we stayed at the Hyatt Regency. We did another full day tour there seeing several temples, the Imperial Palace, and some interesting places to eat. That night my wife and I did a Michelin star sushi restaurant (Sushi Rakumi). There were only 8 seats in the restaurant and they do 2 seatings a night. It was only $300/person which was surprisingly cheap.

Then we did one more day exploring Kyoto (Nishiki Market and Pontocho Alley) before we headed back to Tokyo for our flight.

Overall it was a 180 trip. The best part was spending it all with my kids and family. I can't imagine being in my 40s traveling all by myself in these places. It would be so depressing. Watching my kids faces light up when they say new and cool things is a feeling you can't get anywhere else. The best part is the satisfaction I get knowing that my hard work provided for everyone. I don't think it would feel the same if I won the lottery.

Taking ?s.

MFCR.

"It was only $300/person which was surprisingly cheap."

Japan has like 3x the number of people as CA, but a similar GDO. Ie. It's a middle income country and pretty cheap now.

The only trip I took with my kids this year was a 3 night trip to Wildwood Crest New Jersey. They go back to school tomorrow and I'm sure they are going to hear all about the amazing trips their friends took this summer. I just know they are going to think of me as a complete failure and loser.

You’re a 180 dad. For trips this summer, I took my kids to North Carolina and showed them a 180 mountain. Over this weekend we went on a road trip to a place called Georgetown. I bought my whole family breakfast (it was like $130).
