Fellow sportsball fags, lets gather ITT over the week to discuss the opening week of college basketball.
I'm looking forward to:
1- Cooper Flagg's much-hyped college debut. At long last Maine has produced a generational basketball player. He's WHITE! Hah.
2- xo Rick Pitino rebuilding St. John's roster- I have confidence in him as a coach; will we get more hilarious kooky comments if they struggle out of the gate? stay tuned
3- Seeing how Kentucky will look with an entirely new roster and new coach for the first time in their school's history
4- Something something Alabama offensive powerhouse something something 3 pointers lets runnnnnnn
5- Will Dan Hurley's wife keep his * checks notes * dirty dragon underwear clean for him all season long? She's the real mvp of that program
If there are any basketball gamblefags here that want to speak up, raise your degenerate hands and lets chat.
Also: is anyone here really into KenPom? ("KenPom's rankings are a fraud!")

it's a legit stat to consider
Luck rating (Luck): KenPom defines this as a measure of the deviation between a team’s actual winning percentage and what one would expect from its game-by-game efficiencies. Essentially, a team involved in a lot of close games should not win (or lose) all of them. Those that do will be viewed as lucky (or unlucky).
(If you’re a baseball stats nerd, think of this as a college basketball variation of the Pythagorean record, which assumes every team should go .500 in one-run games and measures luck as how reality varies from that assumption.)

Watching the Duke v Maine game right now
Duke is going to be tough to beat this year. Knipple (however the fuck you spell it) is a an excellent shooter, Malauch is a beastly presence in the paint, and their guards look strong too.
