Vegas had them with the 4th best odds. I mean the lines are usually pretty accurate. I'd argue better than the clowns on espn or the committee. I've been the first to criticize ND when I thought they were overrated. I made plenty a post clowning on them. But this year they were legit. First time I thought they could win the NC (see my thread a few weeks ago).
The whole process was obviously really shitty. Having miami leap-frog them at the last moment? Keeping Alabama at the same ranking despite other conference championship losers being dropped. There's no consistency. They obviously didn't want to snub the ACC or Alabama so they finagled the rankings. |

The playoff rules naming specific teams with special clauses is the best way to describe the modern CFB landscape
They had unique treatment among independents during the BCS era too. They had a special provision that gave them a BCS bowl if they were top 8. No other independent had that guarantee. |

Not even Alabama (6x national champ on last 16 years) deserves a contractual guaranteed right to be in the playoffs.
In fact, one year ago Alabama was left out of the playoff after being ranked #11 coming out of conference championship games IIRC, and IIRC they played their regular bowl game without even a threat of not playing or throwing a hissy fit.
This latest hissy bitch fit is unique to Notre Dame IMHO. Why the league puts up with these bitches is beyond me - I’m not even sure they had a top 10 most watched game this season. |
