You meet with a nurse just to see if you have questions and to go over stuff (testing options, prenatal vitamins, etc). You don't start getting heartbeat and belly checks until 10-12 weeks. The second practice offered it, which I happily accepted b/c I always like having extra info and wanted confirmation I wasn't having twins (I was high risk for that). The first didn't and generally it wasn't necessary. I always got pretty sick first trimester, so that was usually a good indicator things were progressing as expected.
You may not agree with the practice of not seeing the doctor until 10 weeks, but it's not uncommon. His wife is having an issue, and I'm sure they will find room to see her quickly. |

the spotting turned into heavy bleeding and cramping since i made the thread. so any doubt quickly cleared up.
she first went to the docs two days ago and they did a blood test. the results showed very low progesterone and another hormone. she went to an appointment this morning and got an ultrasound, and they didn't see anything at all, including birth tissue, so everything already left in the past couple days.
all in all she is in okay spirits over it. we are grateful that it was quick and that it was so early. she was most concerned about seeing what she thought could look like a tiny fetus even if the size of a blueberry. but that didn't happen.
we'll try again soon. |
