oh i think this was the salt place:

Yes, South America has several deserts, most notably the Atacama Desert in the west, known as one of the driest places on Earth, and the Patagonian Desert in the south, which is the largest desert in the Americas. The continent also includes other arid regions like the Sechura Desert and parts of coastal Peru and northern Chile, as well as some drier areas in the northeast

?

there is a specific reason why the world's deserts are concentrated at certain latitudes.

The sahara was created by excessive transhumance. It can and should be reforested.

The berbers came to africa from yemen after turning the whole arabian peninsula into desert

isn't the basic reason that the air which ascends in the tropics descends at roughly 30 degrees latitude and in that region causes heat by compression of descending air with nearly no moisture?

Sure but When too many animals eat the plants faster than they can grow back, the soil gets exposed, then wind strips away the topsoil. Without plants and roots to hold water, the land loses moisture and turns into desert. In a healthy natural state with trees and vegetation, the ground would store water and keep a stable climate.

Iceland is a desert for the same reason
