but i dont see this as compelling as to why it's called a playoffs vs a playoff. seems like it's just marketing / psychological because purists care about the regular season in cfb and playoffs sounds more destructive to the regular season. |

yes, this goes back to the NFL and AFL days. but if you apply this to the NBA or NHL, it doesnt work. each conference in the NFL has playoffs and its all playoffs. |
