Can someone explain to me why it's prestigious to work for the DOJ?

Pre-Trump, it was the best place to get complex litigation experience right out of the gate. Once you did a few years at DOJ you were very attractive to biglaw, boutiques, you name it. If they see DOJ they know you have top credentials and good experience working in high volume, high stakes litigation.
Now? Absolutely radioactive to employers. Most will file your resume in the circular filing bin unless you have a connection there that can vouch for you that you never misled the court, ignored court orders, made unsupported or unconstitutional arguments, etc.
Heartbreaking.

This administration is a disaster and the people defending all of it suck. So much of it is objectively bad. I totally understand why people voted for Trump over Harris and don’t blame them, but all this bullshit he’s doing should be called out.
It’s like people have to defend their team at all costs. Same thing with “moderate” liberals defending child sex change surgery because the “science” suppers it. What happened to us all? Can’t people just call out bullshit when they see it?

It's really only preftigious to work for certain sections within DOJ.
Nobody cares about ENRD or most of the Civil Division.
