Still think it won't be a huge deal, but this strengthening a little over 24 hours from landfall is more significant than the prior strengthening. Partly because even if it weakens as predicted, all the water being pushed by the hurricane while it's category 5 doesn't stop on a dime. Hurricane Katrina showed that - had huge storm surge even though it was significantly weakened by the time it hit shore. |
