Traveling with 3 kids under 5 and stuck in the airport for a few hours after a canceled flight with nothing to do. Every airport should have playrooms or something. It's insane

Most in Europe do. Finland had a huge video game wall, Santa's playground and reindeer stuff, even in July.

Elderly parents don’t want to come and do anything and feel “unwanted” in the homes of their children. They’d rather play house and spend all day yapping on the phone with their other lazy, unoccupied senior “friends.”

echoes of the louis ck bit

your family is being sat in chairs that will fly through the air across a continent in a couple hours, in near perfect safety.

if there ought to be a more tailored, comfortable way to do this - especially with toddlers - it ought to cost like $30k to get from Pittsburgh to Phoenix. Then you could have a playroom on the plane, hot stewardesses, good food, and a leather recliner.

problem is people want to go from pittsburgh to phoenix (with a fat wife and little kids) for like $129, and then are aghast when there are blacks onboard and your kids have no outlet for their energy

cheap air travel has been a disaster for the human race

it's challenging but it's not forever. the key is to keep a positive attitude and understand that you're probably going to do a bunch of "special" activities that you typically don't practice at home. this might include eating extra junky treats or snacks, watching screens, etc.

This is on you and your wife for not coming prepared with books, games, crayons, toys, etc.

On top of that, the whole airport is a playground. Find an open, uncrowded gate and let them run around, crawl on the chairs, and look out the window at the planes.

This should be nbd.

Do millennial parents in these public places ever take the time to tell their kids, like, in advance, "the airport is a place for Quiet?" I can't imagine being like 4-5 and making a shitload of noise while a parent repeatedly told me to stfu. Also, a lot of times these parents are making more noise than the kid is while they try to tell them to stfu and Stop Moving and Stop Having Fun.
