other day i go to boat and the HELLOSIR says "sir, can you come look here"
turns out that in one of the hatches the bottom rotted, the prior birdshit owner kept furking scuba diving weights in there:
https://imgur.com/a/EMXGO4X
u arent supposed to put any heavy shit in the two outriggers on each side of the boat, so i guess it got wet and a little rot and the weights just furked it
the HELLOSIR said this was not covered in the 3.3k im paying for the other rot but he then said its just 5000 pesos more, which is $91 ljl so whatever, i dont care.
today he found some more rot on the port side forward and entire area will have to be reconstructed but i imagine thats $200 tops
whatever, furk me, i sold the scuba tanks and compressor to some nowag for nearly 1k so blahblah
everything else going good, today my outboard engine started working, got my dinghy though its shit so maybe order a nicer one, my new batteries are coming next week, and the other HELLOSIR has finished varnishing part of the main area and is starting painting it birdshit color tomorrow
i think within a week the paint/varnish will be done, 2-3 weeks the rot will be fixed then i can focus on main sail, electric engine and replacing the navigation stuff if it dont work
oh i need a new toilet too but who cares

I like the fact that these Filipinos both speak and can write in two different languages, know how to fix boats, probably have oodles of kids and loving family, and yet you look down on them.... Who exactly are you to feel superior to them, you filthy turdskin??
You spent tens of thousands of dollars on a fucking boat with a giant hole in it... Who comes off more retarded?

why did you buy a shit boat?
just buy a new boat, unless you WANT the experience of making it seaworthy like some tim the tool guy
boats degrade much faster than cars (always in water) and when a car breaks down you can walk home. a boat is not something you want ANY trouble with unless, again, you want the PROJECT of toiling on it all the time
Even a new boat needs constant massaging. Cant imagine buying a used boat with holes in it. This is like a 2y project bro

15k purchase price + 15k in repairs and i have a 30k ocean going YUGE multihull thats quite livable versus spending 50k for a "new" 2008 Beneteau 32 footer monohull u cant even walk straight in
and its not like my time is valuable so spending 1-2 months improving this is nothing, shit its relaly just 2-3 weeks to fix the interior, the hellosirs fix the outside and then after that i just need to order and replace electronics and sail
and i want to replace the old 30y diesel engine with an electric engine so then i dont have to worry abt shit at sea, engine is like 90% of the worries

tbf, the interior didnt NEED to be fixed, but it looked oldish so some varnish and fresh paint is nice
only the main sail i need new, the jib and other sails are good supposedely though i havent had time to look at them, and the rigging is good
and the exterior shit is just the hull, i wont paint the exterior until malaysia, maybe will do it myself
engine prob still will work i just dont want to go out far with it

in salt water you will need to paint the hull regularly. God I love sailing but there is no time and money suck quite like it.
A brand new boat will require near constant attention if it is moored in salt water, literally cannot imagine resuscitating a beat up relic. I know some old salts who love to work on boats, mostly to get away from their wives I guess. But most of them already have a functional boat in the water and the POS is their second boat "project".
Godspeed Tommy

yea i thought abt keeping one but didnt want to bother cause wld need to get it hydrotested and i dont think ill scuba solo anyway, also they were aluminium and i think those give out sooner? not sure
i still actually have the compressor and the same scuba tank nowag wants to buy it for $450 but now some other one may do $650
i dont even know if it works

this boat has INSANE storage space, the compressor easily fits in a cupboard next to kitchen, i actually thought i had taken out all his shit but the other day the HELLOSIR found some storage beneath the floor and it was full of old rum and whiskey bottles, i gave it all to the HELLOSIRS and they were happy as furk, fixed my outboard motor for free it seems
so u think i shld ask for like what? $600? or $750? market is thin here for such a thing since most HELLOSIRS too poor and not that many expats

that is not good and is a sign that there could be a lot more. Also worrying that the prior owner would just paint over obvious damage - what else has he tried to hide from you?
The standing rigging is 10 years old. I would have it checked before departing for Thailand and plan on also having it refitted once you get there. You also still need the diesel generator.
i do think you can have a fun and functional adventure platform, but I would plan on putting in 30K plus to get there. If the rot is too deep into the core of the boat it might be even more. you really needed/still need a maritime surveyor to make sure you are not guilding a turd that is completely rotten at the core

rofl, he didnt use the boat for at least 3 years, i think actually 2017 its been sitting there
yeah maybe he knew moar of the damge but he told me port side outrigger had to be repaired, and said expect to spend 10k total fixing everything so whatevr, so far not off
rigging is 10y but hasnt been used for 3, ive checked and it looks pretty good, prior owner said no need to replace... i can refit in malaysia if needed
im going borneo next, not thailand though thinking of just hiring delivery crew though i prob cld find desperate birdshits to crew for free
the HELLOSIR has checked the entire hull with a hammer, the rot is msotly on the upper parts except in the back where there's a bit at the edges and the transom
and since there are three hulls the outrigger hulls dont matter that much, ive seen no damage at all in main hull and everything is dry
seems maybe the outriggers just werent built with as much fiberglass

nigga i know, i almost bought that beneatu 32 in thailand for like 55k and it still needed a furking inverter and some other shit
i have TONS of money to blow on this if needed but think 15k will take care of it, maybe even 10k
btw, im getting 2 new 100ah LIFEPO4 batts next week, trying to find someone to help install it and also the DC panel LED is messed up and doesnt show the voltage so need replace. pretty easy to just install the batts in parallel without killing self?

lol if i bought this for 100k then yes but for 15k even if i spend 15k thats 30k boat, u cant even get a 1999 monohull for that price in sailing condition
even at 30k i sleep on it for one year i save prob 20k nigga
u act like im blowing yuge money, im paying this HELLOSIR to paint and varnish $16 a day.. the paint and shit aint the top quality but its cheap as furk i bought a ton of varnish for $25
and the rot HELLOSIRS im paying 3.4k to work six days a week for a month, maybe they will rape me a bit more so i end up paying more like 3.75k but ljl at a euro or US boat yard, or even in phuket that wld be 15k plus

you are obviously a complete idiot.
Tommy has escalated his social standing by being a yachtie and yacht owner venturing on the South Seas. If he keeps the boat at a marina in a decent location he will have a top level social gambit far above most middle class people of color.
"We should go for a sail on my yacht sometime"
Fishing, diving and booze cruise options are available 24/7.
"Want to come check out my trimaran Mr. Lizard?"
His life is much improved.

you need to hire or possibly find a willing birdshit adventurer crew of 2 with local knowledge and experience to help you sail the boat to Borneo or Thailand after you get the hull repaired
You should definitely go along for experience.
If you find a marina close to bars with " chill drinking brehs" you will be styling. Getting there will be an adventure and your Bro's may be right that starting out with a old semi rotten Trimaran a thousand miles from decent civilization is a bit insane, but all great adventures are beyond the norm
I doubt that you will like life on a mooring unless you find a truly great location.
