i wasnt strict kosher then (just kosher style)
i went 10-15 years ago before i even met my wife
i went before it became such a ripoff. it got much more expensive in the past few years. got a very good last minute deal. pitted all the travel agents against each other. i think it was $2300 for a 8 day cruise

Wait holy shit this thread is relevant af to my interests. was searching Galapagos yesterday but there were only like 17 year old threads talking about god knows what.
am planning a trip over spring break with the family. few questions for you mi amigo
can you out your itinerary no d00bs.
did you do a cruise around the islands, which seem expensive af but do you ofc.
or did you use one island as a base then do excursions from there?
took kids? it seems 180 billion for kids who are strong swimmers, like animals and outdoors, etc.
spend any time in Ecuador?
Length of trip?
edit: oh nvm i see upthread you went 10 years ago by yourself likely to pedo out some turtles

cruise. i'm not a cruise person whatsoever, and this was the 1st cruise i ever went on. as i said above, it was a small boat with 20 tourists max -- not cslg carnival cruise. the focus was on the wildlife, and the cruise amenities were fine and no frills. i was very happy with it.
a cruise is the only way to visit a lot of the islands. it'd be a waste to do excursions from the two cities you can stay on. if you want to go to the galapagos, suck it up and spend the money on the cruise. it's a once in a lifetime thing and you probably aren't going back. anyone in the know will tell you that you have to take a cruise to do the galapagos right, and imho theyre not flaming.
this was way before i had kids. if you're bringing kids, then maybe the cost isnt worth it and they're not gonna appreciate it. how old are the kids? unless they're teenagers, they're not gonna appreciate the unique species and evolution stuff, and aren't gonna appreciate what makes the galapagos the galapagos. the kids will enjoy a vacation elsewhere that isn't the galapagos and it's not worth the money unless you have fuck you money. plenty of other places to go to see beaches and some animals and do some snorkeling.
the cruise was 8 days. flew into quito and flew out of quayaquil (2nd biggest city). 2 days in the former, 1 day in the latter. quito has some cool stuff -- colonial city, museum, visiting the equator, etc. guayaquil isnt much.
if i had more time it would have been nice to do more of ecuador, but it is what it is.
