At some points, subs would radio to the ship that the sub is about to sink the ship, giving the crew (and any passangers) time to evacuate. That's the honorable thing to do.
But, that gave the target ship time to try to evade the sub, to try to sink the sub, or to call for other ships to try to sink the sub. So, the cr strategy for subs was to sink ships without warning. |
