the most basic expression is something like "THEY VOTED FOR IT!," which may or may not be true (or may be 'true' along a gradient) in a given case. but the deeper impulse is sadism. to mock people and imagine them suffering in some fashion because you don't like them.
that's the individual level. it becomes more interesting at the institutional level, since institutions and even politicians themselves enact the same impulses. |
