bad marketing effectively shutting it out of the children's market.

this must have been out only a very short time. I remember having the mcrib a few times and thinking nothing of it. I thought the original steak egg and cheese bagel was incredible. The bagel was doughy and crispy, and the "steak" and onions were drenched in grease.

Arch Deluxe was out for a year or two (though McDonald's intended it to be permanent) in the mid-late 90s, aka the pinnacle of America's existence.

It was ten trillion times better than a McRib.

ok, I was too young. at the time, I was focused on eating cheeseburgers. they did not have the double cheeseburger at the time, so I removed the bottom buns and combined two cheeseburgers. I was a morbidly obese little boy.

My recollection is that the media meme'd it a failure. Cost was cited but how much was it really? I thought it was quite good too. The entire Deluxe line including crispy chicken was also tasty

McD's exists so you can feed shitfood to your shitkids to kid them to shut the fuck up. Having an "upscale" burger runs contrary to why the fuck we're here, like having a string quartet at the playground. Do the parents enjoy the string quartet? Sure, a lot do. Do they take their kids to the playground? Yes. Does it therefore follow that having a string quartet at the playground is a good idea? No, of course not.
