Why take a chance with an intruder who the dog has already judged to be an enemy? This isn't possible with a shitpit because they can't reliably distinguish friend from foe, and because they can't be reliably trained to go for the neck. A German shepherd or Doberman can be trained to read your intentions and go for the neck, no problem, but this is one area where shitpits are predictably weak.
