I was charged $44 on my EBT card for this order. Typically, when SNAP users use EBT at participating restaurants, there is a 10% discount on the cost of the meal. My total should’ve been roughly around $38.
I was never told or shown my order total before swiping my card. It wasn’t until I was waiting for my food that I checked my EBTEdge app (external app to track purchases and lock card) that I saw the total and thought it didn’t look right. When I went to pick up my food, I asked the same employee for my receipt. The first time, he pretended not to hear me, and when I kept persisting, he said, “EBT orders don’t have receipts,” which I know is a lie because I’ve gotten a non-itemized receipt at this Popeyes location in the past.
