Disney executives spent years trying to attract families to the company's storied theme parks, but ultimately found that model frustrating and outdated.

"Let's face it, our typical fan is an overweight 32 year-old woman who isn't having kids," said Daniel Schein, a Disney marketing manager. "If her whole life is Mickey Mouse, and god knows she has the disposable income, then let's get her in the park," he added.

With the new ban on children taking effect in 2027, Disney plans to demolish all child-friendly sections of each park, replacing them with wine bars, brunch counters, and selfie booths.

Disney has always been selling to adults, because children seldom have their own money and the only way they get to go to Disney World is if they convince a parent or guardian to take them. To sell to children you either have to convince the child to convince the parent to buy your product, or you have to convince the parent that the child wants them to buy the product for the child. It's much simpler to sell directly to adults, as Disney, the Lego Group, Nintendo, and other brands have recently figured out. If you hate Disney adults, AFOLs, and Nintendies, you should be advocating for some kind of national child allowance scheme where every child gets like $1,000 a month to spend on whatever they want no matter what their moms or dads say, plus an annual travel grant to go to one of a list of pre-approved kid-friendly tourist destinations.

Do any white middle class families even take their kids to Disneyland anymore

I feel like it's just not even a thing now. Like there's just other options for family vacations that are objectively better in so many ways
