In the early parts of the movie, it's mentioned that the narrator's older brother died in a "Jeep accident". Is this how it is described in the King story? Not a car accident, but a Jeep accident.
Odd phrasing and Ive always wondered if, in the 1950s, Jeeps were a new enough thing for civvies that you might say something like that

In the book the older brother Denny is the golden child and all-American boy, contrasted with the loser narrator. Big brother is destined for big things but died in a jeep accident at basic when a larger army truck ran him over, killing him instantly. It’s a tragic but meaningless death that ruins his family and haunts Gordie.
So it’s relevant that it happened in a military jeep.
