Date: December 12th, 2025 8:03 AM Author: Red titillating station they've offered an alternative with different production methods i'm not anti-AAA myself, per se. the arrangement as it is has always been complementary. the pool of investor money and engine/technological advancements that triple A gaming offers the field is also a necessity for the health of the market there's a symbiosis there and a see-saw sort of effect that causes one to gain while the other wanes and vice versa. but ultimately both production styles cause the hobby to grow and advance as they develop things in the field |

UE5 is fairly high quality and increasingly modular. the unity engine and its *holds nose* asset market system caused an explosion of good ideas/amateur talent games to appear in the field, and that's generally how new ideas/genres/concepts come to market to begin with---triple A studios aren't developing new concepts these days. valve's source is still a venerable titan of the field and mapped down to its bones in such a way that even amateur devs can feel a good deal of mastery over it once they've started working with it. also afaik the fox engine is pretty expensive to license, more specialized/less freeform, and the japanese are much less giving with their tech base than many western companies are (http://www.autoadmit.com/thread.php?thread_id=5809361&forum_id=2\u0026mark_id=5310904#49503959) |

Date: December 12th, 2025 8:29 AM Author: Red titillating station ue5 seems like an odd choice for that. you'd probably want to look into how they made the decision sometimes you have a glut of remakes pop up esp around big engine tech hitting the market so that studios can break ground on the engine with the production companies taking in the data to further familiarize other teams in the org chart with how it works it's also why remakes of ancient games can be bizarrely shitty despite being mapped down to the character level in the codebase (the halo trilogy remake comes to mind) |
