It's worth it. The issue isn't just that the kid wakes up every two to three hours, its getting them back down after they're up. The only thing worse than waking up at 3:30 to give the kid two ounces is having to fight with them for another 45 minutes to an hour to go back to sleep afterwards. This thing will put the kid down usually in under 5 minutes and adds about to each sleep cycle overnight. You can find used ones everywhere and buy new materials for it if the price is too steep

You don’t need the SNOO, but it helps and is worth a try unless you are poor. I bought a used one and replaced everything that touches the baby and later resold it for more than I paid for it. It doesn’t work for every kid—and some kids won’t need the gimmick. But for some kids, it’s great, and it basically brings SIDS risk to zero, which is worth a lot if your wife is anxious.

1 month in bassinet in our room and then moved to nursery with a video monitor. Never in our bed - do not let this happen, ever. Ferber method (ie let them cry it out) - it’s tough because you want to comfort but it’s best.

Read 12 hours by 12 weeks and babywise and follow it religiously.

Ours have all slept 12 hours by 10-11 weeks. It’s much easier if they are born larger and not hungry all the time.

We did SNOO in our bedroom for 6 months then moved them to their own rooms with a baby monitor.

NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER let them start sleeping with you. It is not only dangerous but a terrible habit to form. The only time we ever did that was to put them in a dock a tot and let the lounge for a bit in the morning for a bit after they work up or were fed. (The dock a tot prevents you from rolling over on them if you fall asleep, which is a possibility given how sleep deprived you may be at times.)

My kids all slept perfectly from the getgo without any effort whatsoever on our part. Just put them down at bedtime in their bedroom. They went to sleep. Fed them at regular intervals (never on demand). Never any crying. Have never slept with us other than a few times I'm hotels.

I don't understand what's so complicated. I think my kids inherited my non-neuroticism though and are.chill like me.

Son has always slept with wife while I work. If he cries for milk be gets it right away then back to sleep. Never had a problem with this system. It's not like we can afford his own bedroom anyway. Why we would want him in his own room is beyond me.
