$100k/resident is only $5.5B.
If the US made that offer and Greenland held a plebiscite, they'd take the deal and join the US, right?

Why not? Who cares? They seem chill.
And in any event, it's a drop in the bucket. "The number of people in the United States illegally surged to an all-time high of 14 million in 2023." (https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/illegal-immigration-hit-record-of-14-million-in-2023-pew-report-finds)
There are 56,000 Greenlanders. Most of them would probably want to stay in Greenland.

no one likes the US
and if u dont restrict amerishits from moving there then greenlandic furks will easily get swamped so their entire nation is furked by this
but is there any US territory where US citizens cant move and buy land? i dont think so
so greenland is furked if it becomes part of shithole US

How can you offer them home rule? What exactly does that mean?
You’d need to offer $500K (which is still quite doable) to make the money work IMO. $100K is shit in today’s world.

how many recurring benefits a year? it costs denmark $5-700MM a year to keep these guys afloat:
Denmark provides Greenland with a substantial annual block grant, around $500-$700 million USD (or DKK 3.9-5.6 billion), covering over half of Greenland's public budget for services like healthcare and education, with total Danish support estimated to be higher when administrative costs are included. This funding is crucial for Greenland's economy, though fishing remains its largest export sector, notes the International Trade Administration and CSIS.
Key Figures & Details:
Block Grant: Around DKK 3.9 billion (approx. $511 million USD in 2024), with estimates varying slightly.
Budget Share: This grant makes up over 50% of Greenland's government budget and about 20% of its GDP, according to the International Trade Administration and Statista.
Total Support: Some estimates suggest total Danish spending, including services Denmark runs (police, courts, defense), brings the total annual cost to over $700 million USD or even closer to $850 million USD when including other support.
Functions Covered: The block grant is flexible, but Denmark also directly funds critical areas like foreign policy, defense, and border control, according to the International Trade Administration and Wikipedia.

Glory of expanding (which human socieites were trying to do from the beginning of human history until 1945--and we're no different today, in terms of who we are intrinsically).
Makes sense economically in terms of minerals and shipping.
Strategic military importance.
The point is, paying $100k to each Greenlander for it would be very well worth it and much smarter than any other way to do it.
