The older and more experienced I get though the more I realize software engineering and other forms of engineering are for gunner shutin midwits with no social skills. XO thinks lawyers are aspie shutins and they are by chad standards but compared to engineers they might as well be chads. Verbal intelligence especially as measured on IQ and standardized tests and by writing ability are much more correlated with natural intelligence. Math sections are more correlated with practice and familiarity with the subject matter. Math looks hard until you practice then it isn't (not counting once you get into pure abstraction and proofs). It might have been true in the 80s to late 2000s when software was purely the domain of Nerds, but then the STEM obession and LRN2CODE push began in earnest and seemingly every midwit future vaguely titled office worker studied computer science or some adjacent crap in college. And the tech companies went from professing lean staffing to being bloated whales full of people who would have been in vague middle management positions at boring old guard companies in the 80s and 90s, but now were suddenly either "engineers" or in some engineering adjacent position or retard "product managers."
