I've been into Hajime no Ippo for over a decade, dude. [Used to be fairly fluent in Japanese, knew over 1,000 of the most common Kanji due to the Henshall (sp?) method and spaced repetition, etc.)

My favorite character has got to be Takamura, obviously --- for example, when people finally respect him after his fight with (I think) David Eagle, and then he loses respect b/c he starts shouting he'd be happy to fuck the hot women there then they'd have a nation of champions. He's just too 180.

But him aside, I identify most with Itagaki. I like his style, natural athleticism, and also the fact that he comes from a family that constantly makes dumb puns, ends his fights by bowing, and humorously says "ItaGAKImasu" instead of "itadakimasu."
