Massive photorealistic world, go anywhere, do anything, revolutionary NPC "radiant" AI system.
All with a dev team <10% the size of numerous "modern" AAA failures much more restricted in scope that should be easier to make, and with the oblivion team also having to create their own engines and dev tools which modern "devs" don't/can't do anymore.
how is this possible? well we looked at the data, and the making-of vid shows a shocking lack of diversity if you click around:

Death Stranding only took like 3 years. Don’t know why the sequel took so long. I think the pandemic took them off course somehow
FF7 Rebirth didn’t take long for how big it was but a lot of the Engineering was already set

It’s the graphics. If we wanted to make games that look like 2006 games, development teams could be dramatically cut. High poly sculpting and 4k textures and all the other bullshit requires an enormous number of artists.
AI should help with this some time soon
