Why waste compute rendering a hard XYZ coordinate for a particle that nothing is currently interacting with? Far more efficient to store the particle as a fluid probability equation in memory.

Maybe its like a standard onObserve() event listener. As long as no system query or detector forces a value check, the engine keeps the object unrendered. The instant an interaction requires a definitive state, the code calculates the random seed, collapses the wave, and renders a single pixel.

Yes, and "entanglement" is just shared pointers referencing the same memory address.

so who is programming our Sim/Matrix? Is it like a higher being or is it AI generating us randomly?

I lean toward thinking that perhaps there are no programmers at all. You could imagine that sufficiently consistent mathematical/computational structures simply “exist” and conscious observers necessarily find themselves inside some of them. I guess at that point it isn't really a simulation anymore and "the sim" is just a metaphor for reality being computational in nature. But if it DOES have a designer, I lean more toward it not being someone directly programming this universe, but programming some kind of meta-ruleset. They program a small set of fundamental rules and an initial state, then billions of years of emergent complexity eventually produce us. So we could be several levels removed from the intentional design and who ever built the system doesn't even know about us.

I don't believe we are actually in a sim, but it is much more likely than the supernatural person described by some ancient religious tradition existing (chances for that are zero).

There are thousands of known human religions if you count extinct ones. The evidence strongly suggests particular ancient gods are products of human culture, mythology, politics, and psychology. That is the objective grounded view about it. You don't need to get into "metaphysics" or "science". Religion is the ancient cultural output of a particular species of ape. It's that simple.

i enjoyed this thread

but once you shimmy into "metaphor", the scope of the claim changes so much that your audience should just feel betrayed and walk away

Like a hot dog restaurant that advertises and sets up shop and has a grand opening and starts charging customers and then the waitress comes out and says "hehe the hot dog is a metaphor"

Yeah good point. So if we are in a simulation who do you think started it or is running it? Ordinary organisms? Post biological organisms? AI? Machine elves? Or something else?

I think God the Father (I am who am) has always existed / IS existence, and whats remarkably lucky for us is that he is also creative and loving, so lovingly created the universe with a personal investment from his side, meaning he actually cares and sometimes intervenes and has grand hopes for an outcome

and your objection above (evidence suggests we invented this) is a great one, but there is a great answer as well: of course our articulation of this comes via "invention" and "creativity" and "imagination". Shaw writes a great passage in his joan of arc play. Some skeptic accuses joan that the 'voice of god' she hears is only in her imagination. She replies, "Where else would it be?"

But in a sense I also shimmy like you, and cryptically answer many objections with "its a metaphor"
