This could be a really good serial even. Maybe have a couple of episodes showing him roaming the stacks for books published at least 10 years ago, and a completely empty book card, and gives a review. About 3 episodes in, he is chatting with the checkout girl at the desk about his project, and she goes, "oh this book has been checked out a lot, most recently last month"
Camera pans to his stunned face, "huh?"
"Why the blank book card, then?"
"Well we replace them once they are full. Some libraries don't even use book cards anymore."
