It feels like a loss for Dallas but it does make some sense. They weren't projected to compete this year (over/under at 8 wins) and committing $45m to Parsons probably would have trapped them in mediocrity for the next few seasons.
The Packers picks will probably be in the low 20's, and two of those may not feel like a great return for a guy as talented as Parsons, but combined with Dallas' own picks, it helps them reset a bit.
The Cowboys have $31m in dead money this year plus at least $16m in dead money for next year. Factor in the massive signing bonus to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, with Prescott on the wrong side of 30, and this may have felt like a poison pill move. Because giving Parsons the deal he got with Green Bay would have put them in cap hell for a good 5 years.

Its interesting because:
1. The argument for the Packers is that he's a truly elite player, and they don't have too many of those, so you just have to pay them.
2. Argument for Dallas is on a salary cap team, can you really afford to pay him 20% more than the largest defensive contract ever plus give up 2 first round picks and a good player? Is he really that good.
I think the trade is probably a win for the Packers because it seems like the NFL salary cap is sort of made up and doesn't matter...
