Anyone on the fence about having kids read this

Date: October 2nd, 2024 5:05 PM Author: glo This is the best secret weeks to go to the beach in the north east/North Atlantic. We go down the Jersey and there are zero people in the beach except for like 8 locals, 180 sunsets. For this week to work you need a perfect storm. 75-80 degree weather and for one of these hotels/ condos to be an open at a reasonable price. Today I’m chilling a WW with no clouds, 180000 condo, water perfect temp, no one on beach. Perfect bc my 5 kids can run around and we can watch them from our chairs. Summer is a disaster with little kids and a crowded beach.
My year old and 2 year old wanted to go to the water. We walk down. I am on them like glue. There’s a sandbar which is usually perfect because I can keep an eye on both. My 4 year old was running like a moron and my Two year old follows, then I look and I see the top of my two year old’s head and I’m like WTF. I sprint over and reach in and grab his arm and pulled him out of the water. There was a hole in the sandbar and he fell in and I was lucky enough to be right on top of him to get him out. If I let them run down to the water by himself he would be dead. My oldest son was too busy playing to even notice.
Sitting at the blanket right now watching them play in the sand realizing that if something happened to my son the only honorable place for me would have been on the sidewalk in front of 120 Broadway. On one hand I feel like a failure even though I should feel good that I was right on top of him that nothing happened and I saved him. On the other realizing being a parent you’re always one wrong move away from a lifelong humiliation/tragedy.
