But even if they did, a Hezbollah without missile capabilities doesn't mean much and isn't a risk. But as long as theres an Islamic Iran and really a western antagonistic Russia, they will get missiles again. In a generation we will be right back here like we are now from a generation ago.
Because Israel can't ground invade Lebanon, and can't install a friendly government. Because of Hezbollah. So we continue the cycle of decapitation and hindering until it's all rebuilt again.
Personally I think Bibi really plans on this time being the break in cycle and doing everything to eliminate aligned-world's enemies in middle east. But that means real war with Iran, Syria, and militias with Russian support. That means Israel WILL be hit significantly across its entire geography, gets dismantled as a state, and essentially becomes a NATO/Five Eyes military base of operations green zone for broader total middle east conflict and can't function as a country until the big war is over.
Real problem is all sides, mostly the DC/London side, aren't convinced of the outcome of a conflict like that especially if broader Islamic world refuses to cooperate once it looks like Israel can't be sustainable state. That's why it's all on the line. DC can't lose Israel. If it does, Saudi and the other grudging partners will break support. They will stay in line as line as it looks like US can preserve status quo but if Israel goes, they will not give support to Western efforts to re-establish it as Jewish state.
The only other option is some limited engagement with Iran that people calculate will stay contained. But Iran will meaningfully hit Israel if this happens and Israel can't accept to not escalate if it does so we're back at original problem. |

It doesn't really matter what you call this either. "Hezbollah" might be useful for branding purposes because anything else will get labeled as an Iran proxy from day 1. That's why the NVA kept calling themselves "Viet Cong" long after Americans tracked down and killed 90% of the original Viet Cong. |
