Until now I mostly lost money on options and had my most success buying shares of TQQQ on dips and selling when I expected another dip to come. I decided about a week ago to start trading QQQ options because I felt like I'd stared at the QQQ chart long enough that I could intuit what was going to happen. (this is almost certainly delusional and I just got lucky).
I never bought options expiring the same day during this most recent run. All were expiring the next day or in a few days. My "strategy" consisted basically of: buy when I felt like it was going to go up soon, sell after like $3,000 of profit most of the time but then other times look away from my phone for ten minutes and hope I come back to a big gain. And then, when my position went down in value I'd double, triple, quadruple down. Today, after I was up by over $90k, I entered a new position and was down at one point by $200k but held and it recovered and I sold for a $5k profit. While I was down $200k today (basically back to where I started this week), I realized I have a serious gambling addiction and told God I'd try to stop if he let me get back to where I was an hour ago. God must be real because it did work out. But now I decided I need to stop trading options and just leave it all in 50% VOO and 50% QQQM and not come back for a year |
