At one point he Plagiarized work from a famous author and submitted it as his own, and still got a low GPA (the beginning of a career of plagiarism). After that he eschewed liberal arts and switched to Medicine. He completed Medical School but eschewed (or bombed?) Match Day, instead choosing to write books under the name of John Lange. Some say that John Lange was a real writer who couldn’t get published because he was a Loser, and that Crichton intimidated and Browbeated the publisher into giving him the rights to Lange’s unpublished manuscripts. It doesn’t really make sense for the science Nerd guy to write about a “great train robbery” in the old west.
6’9 boomer is like a “mode” of life that none of us can truly understand imo like a form of easy that few can fathom. He could just walk into Publisher’s offices and Take What’s His.
He wasn’t dumb but his intelligence was performative. Medical School, just to say he’s a fuckin’ doctor. Eschewing Match Day, because fuck these frauds. Eschewing liberal arts. Then later doing liberal arts. Teaching himself BASIC on an Apple II or whatever. But when the rubber meets the road — writing the damn books, Match Day, liberal arts GPA — he always fell flat. He had an intellect but it was shallow imo. A man so Tall can only dive so deep when stooped on such a high Perch.
By the way, his Estate is suing the producers of The Pitt for ripping off ER somehow. A worthy tribute to his Legacy of taking credit for Everything, even after being dead for 15 years. What the fuck. |
