It's also funny and fitting in this context that the first books I ever loved reading even before I was introduced to Redwall were Hardy Boys mysteries, and now I love Chesterton's detective fiction, both Father Brown and the lesser known Horne Fisher collection (The Man Who Knew Too Much)

I didn't and I can't wait unironically - listening to audiobooks in unexpected times and places has become one of my favorite things to do when I'd otherwise be mindlessly browsing the web

I'm pretty sure I got the expression "life is a cosmic bootcamp" from a Dean Koontz movie adaptation, lmao (Odd Thomas was unexpectedly 180 even though I don't typical like horror and/or thriller type movies)

180!

Gorgeous theory IMO (I don't have a dog in the fight, honest)

180^180 - just checked the iphone audiobook store and they have a lot of his work. A few you'd recommend to start with?

House with a Clock in its Walls was one of the most famous and got made into an okay not great movie (by Eli Roth of all people)

I liked the Curse of the Blue Figurine

and the Chessmen of Doom

Those all sounds 180^180 in a Disney's Haunted Mansion walk through kind of way - spooky yet designed to be uplifting rather than demoralizing in the end

(And Jack Black as the lead in Clock - also ruminating on tfw no Cate Blanchett mommy gf after browsing the cast - means it's made for general audiences which is 180 in my case, nothing too scary)

exactly

yeah

bellairs got a lot spookier than they do in clock but it was all for general audiences and is fundamentally about using scholarship to defeat evil
