https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/how-congressional-maps-could-change-2030

Dem states:

CA -4

NY -3

IL -2

OR -1

MN -1

RI -1

Toss ups

MI -1

PA -1

GOP

TX +4

FL +3

ID +1

UT +1

AZ +1

NC +1

TN +1

SC +1

GA +1

GOP gains 14 EV, Dems lose 12, and toss ups lose 2. On the flipside, some of the southern GOP states may start to move closer to toss ups.

studies/polls have shown that its majority right wing types moving from blue states to red states. so really the blue states lose population but become more blue, which doesnt help in presidential elections, but will help the dems in state elections there.

Cali people are moving to Austin which has trended even faster.

but even if it's just Mexicans, the GOP is still fucked because they are going to be an outright majority of the state soon.

seems pretty certain it's gonna happen, insane that they went from a 16 point margin in 2012 to just 5.5% a mere 8 years later. particularly when you consider that Obama was the nominee in 2012 and presumably had better appeal to minorities. You wouldn't expect such fast trends in a massive state like Texas.

The dem raw vote total went from 3.3 million to 5.25 million in that time.

Yes but the number of majority minority Texas children who turn 18 every two years is much larger than the net influx from other states. There are more Latinos than whites in Texas currently and every year another 250k cohort of mostly white olds dies and another 350k of 70+% nonwhites turn 18.

how much of the Texas trends are just it becoming a more urban state. All of its growth is in its big cities and suburbs whereas most of the rural areas are actually losing population.
