logins freeze up, monikers become unchangeable, search grinds to a halt, etc. i’m assuming these aren’t the result of updates (lol), so what is happening where something that has always worked before suddenly doesn’t?

When the CIA is accessing the backdoor bult into XO it can cause the site to temporarily lock up.

All kinds of reasons especially with a legacy PHP app. Apache server behavior, TLS config, cookie defaults, database settings etc. Something could have updated or been deprecated that the site depends on and that fucked it up. Or another thing -- remember recently https was broken? I don't remember when https came back, but https/tls/ssl certificate changes can surface weird auth behavior. Other things too too many to name.

You cant get access to php source files client-side but you can look at the html and images. I was looking at the dates on the image files on the login last night and they said last modified 2004 lol.

It’s likely running on an ancient Apache server version managed by “LeaseWeb”. There have been all kinds of little updates to web protocols and package versions over the years, and not staying somewhat up to date inevitably leads to Ruin.
