I made about $200k 1099 and plan to do another 100k before I quit this June. Never set foot there. If I just don't file what are the chances they'll send me a demand letter? My father says once that happens I will not be able to write off any expense and they'll make me pay just like irs would make me pay if I refused to pay federal tax

You're leaving out the nost important info. What is the nexus to CA that is making you think you need to pay the tax? These guys say ur fukt if it's a CA entity. You would ironically be better off as a W2 employee.

Yes I work as a 1099 contractor for a California hospital. I know very well that I wouldn't pay tax if I were w2. So if I don't pay 1099 tax now, will they go after me the same way as if I don't pay my federal irs tax? In that case its better for me to just file the tax now and at least claim about 50k in expense deductions. BTW I plan to quit that job in June.

lots of people work for california companies and don't pay california tax if they never actually live or go into california. think about all the people working for california tech companies in other states.

W2 outofstate workers don't need to pay tax according to their law. 1099 do. Do you actually know any 1099 workers that do or do not pay tax?

I did my research, any 1099 form sent to irs from a califorbia business automatically makes it to ftb. They send demand letters to people 2-3years after the year and then get penalties plus no opportunity to do any deductions and have to use kike and Muslim lawyers to even get through to them. Easier for me to just pay the tax(10% after I include deductions) and forget them. Not renewing my california license.

Basically if I pay I end up paying 50% income tax on that california income. Now that I switched to mo-fr day job it doesn't make sense for me to kill a weekend and pay much higher tax. If I work weekend I end up working 12days in a row..

I lived in california for 7 years and never got a local license plate on my car and I didn't pay state tax once despite being a state employee for some of those years. It was like an extra $40 to file w/ turbotax and i didnt bother

I even cashed out my CA state pension. Why should I pay if all the "undocumented" don't. I think the statute of limitations has run out

Then why not just not pay federal tax? Your employers send you the tax form at the end of the year what can happen if you don't? My father said california will make a demand for more money than I wouldve paid if I filed myself and if I don't pay my bank accounts are frozen because all states follow "creditor" judgements in other states.

I asked simple question if I work 1099 for California out of Florida. Do I have any protection from California tax or they'll just take my money same way as irs.

How are you as a doctor working 100% remotely for a CA hospital? If this is telemedicine, I’d take my chances. but maybe not if you’re exclusively talking with patients in a Kaiser Permanente location there.

My only record is an employer sending a 1099 form to irs and to my out-of state address. But I've been told plenty of people like me got demand letters.. but some of them worked for many years before they got the demand letter, I am definitely quitting by June (so tototal work just under 2 years).

You are stupid. There's a test for whether you are a resident, non resident, or part year resident. And also rules for whether the 1099 is CA source income. U of course dont mention but the fact u ask means the 1099 is prob from a CA comp? Well it cld get complicated if u are doing legal work, it wasn't CA litigation but say some corporate shit and as u said u never were in CA a single day. prob still CA source but u shld check wht u can get away with

Nigger my question was whether I will definitely get a demand letter or not if I just never file I'm califorbia. And apparently the answer is yes they may just take 2-3years to get to it but then charge all the interest and penalties. So unless Florida secedes from ttt usa better to just pay now.
