It makes more sense when you realize they're not making an argument, they're presenting an argument for their readers to use irl ("actually the ingredient list is roughly the same- I read it in the nyt")
my posts on XO should be approached in much the same way fwiw

just to follow up on the coordination point, did you see Joann Reid's election night blather? she kept saying that Kamala ran a "flawless" and "nearly perfect" campaign because Kamala got endorsements from Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and Queen Latifah, etc. libs crave coordinated social solidarity over reality.

Americans' Trust in Media Remains at Trend Low
Trust in political and civic institutions highest for local and state governments, lowest for media and Congress
by Megan Brenan
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Americans continue to register record-low trust in the mass media, with 31% expressing a “great deal” or “fair amount” of confidence in the media to report the news “fully, accurately and fairly,” similar to last year’s 32%. Americans’ trust in the media -- such as newspapers, television and radio -- first fell to 32% in 2016 and did so again last year.
For the third consecutive year, more U.S. adults have no trust at all in the media (36%) than trust it a great deal or fair amount. Another 33% of Americans express “not very much” confidence.

What do you even call “libs” at this point? We need a new word. They worship corporations when the situation calls for it. Here are some ideas:
Obsequiocrat. Derived from the Latin root obsequi, meaning to comply with, to follow obediently, and the suffix -crat, meaning ruler or member of a governing body, this word captures their deferential and unquestioning allegiance to authority, particularly media and corporate narratives that align with their ideological priors. It evokes a sense of blind loyalty and submission to the ideological status quo.
Praeludite. From prae- (Latin for beforehand) and ludere (to play or perform), this term suggests a person who performs pre-approved scripts, devoid of originality or agency, while imagining themselves enlightened.
Mandatorian. From mandatum (Latin for command or order), this mocks their tendency to embrace every new mandate or decree with self-righteous fervor, as though it were a moral crusade.
Pietocrat. From pietas (Latin for dutifulness or religious devotion) and -crat, this skewers their performative piety toward progressive causes, all while being oblivious to their own lack of independence.
Scriptularian. From scriptum (Latin for something written) and -arian (denoting a person), this term mocks those who live by regurgitating narratives handed to them by trusted outlets, as if they were sacred texts.
Cogniservile. A fusion of cognitio (Latin for knowledge) and servilis (servile or slavish), pointing to their self-congratulatory embrace of ideas that align with their media masters, while mistaking this conformity for intellectual independence.
Rectifidian. From rectus (Latin for correct, right) and fides (faith), this term mocks their dogmatic adherence to the "correct" narrative, treating it as a quasi-religious faith despite its contradictions or flaws.
Oblatist. From oblatus (Latin for offered up or sacrificed), this name ridicules their eagerness to sacrifice personal agency and critical thought on the altar of social acceptance and virtue signaling.
