i can’t imagine playing with a phone in my pocket. rangefinder is ok but ljl at having it on your belt when playing your shots.

are you in a cart on path only courses? i can’t stand that shit

Yeah like 80% of the time I have to walk away from the cart and leave my phone/rangefinder so I won't forget them

Wearing a watch seems either perfect or really annoying

Was so close to getting H4 but saw people complaining about having to manually tag the club before each shot

I can't imagine incorporating that into my routine

If I didn't care about tracking specific club distances (which I probably won't care about later on) and just wanted distance to center of green + map then H4 would be perfect

Garmin has no subscription either

Get a bushnell gps that attaches to the cart. You aren’t good enough to need a rangefinder. Watch I guess is fine too if you don’t mind playing with a watch on your wrist.

wtf at every sentence in this post

How can someone be good enough for a GPS but not range finder

And every cart has GPS now. That doesn't solve the problem at all

Lol

range finder takes way more effort and slows down your round for minimal gain even for good players, which you are not. I haven't seen a cart with a gps screen in a long time, though they were common like 15 years ago. everyone uses some combination of portable gps, range finder, or phone now so clubs don't waste $ on the screens any more.

I agree there are issues using a range finder, that's why I made this thread.

But every golfer should know how far their ball is from the flag (or layup target) before swinging. Even the worst one on the course.

Watch is good enough and less distracting than a phone in your pocket IME. One of the ones that automatically records your shot locations and with scoring is handy for tracking your game. I don't really feel I'm good enough to need to precision of a range finder, and the range finder setting that adjusts for elevation is kind of cheating.

It should be illegal to use a range finder on the green. They all have the slope thing now but never seen a single person use it for putting

S12 has it it too if you get the ct10 sensors

Even with the s42 and s70 you still need a few sensors for wedges and putter because they only auto-track full swings

s42 picks up 90%+ of chips/pitch shots and punch outs IME. I don't really use it for putting, but maybe I'll pick up a putter sensor to get better information there.

3 I hit some low cumfart drive to the right and eventually got up and down from a bunker, 4 and 5 I literally topped the fucking ball on my approaches. 6 I airmailed the green from like 85 yards, 7 i blocked my drive into the trees like 40 yards right of the fairway and hit a good recovery, 8 I made a 12 footer to save par, 9 I bladed the fuck out of my 8 iron but result was ok and at least I finally hit a decent drive.

Wound up getting Garmin g80 since it has a launch monitor for driving range.

Now I can get rid of my MLM2 and never use my iPhone ever again for golf/range shit (my main goal)

I will mount g80 to my cart/trolley and holster g12 to my belt with a magnet

After I get used to the basic Garmin features I'll try their watch
