During stand-ups, I keep my camera off and only speak when it's my turn, and only for a couple seconds up to a couple minutes. I can usually buy that much time in the other meetings. For truly simultaneous meetings where I need to be speaking in two places at once, I simulate a web cam glitch. All computers use the same web cam & microphone source, which is directly connected to my desktop. I use a separate graphics card to output the HDMI signals to each work computer either directly or via an HDMI->USB adapter. Each work computer recognizes the USB device as a web cam, so I'm not concerned about the network security team seeing an unusual device.
I also isolate each work computer to its own VLAN and have my router set up a virtual ethernet device for each VLAN, each one being assigned a unique MAC address. This is to thwart CrowdStrike's latest adventures in persecuting the overemployed by reading ARP tables and identifying other systems in the network on which Falcon is installed. If CrowdStrike learns that Falcon sees an entry in the ARP table with a hostname/MAC matching another system on which Falcon is installed, they might get suspicious. If Falcon is running as me@company1.com on one system and me@company2.com on another, they'll probably let both companies know of the detected overemployment. Since there's some speculation that they may start using WAN IP addresses for the same purpose, I'm provisioning a VM on AWS with one static IP per job to run OpenVPN. My router will route traffic through the appropriate job-specific VPN to AWS then to wherever it needs to go. |
