It is almost impossible to get them to do something outside with the grandkids. Even taking them out to eat is a task. As a result, they come over to play with the grandkids (MIL does a bit but FIL largely sits in same room and stares at who knows what on his iPad) and that’s about it. We’ve done <10 things with them ever and that includes meals out. They’re mid-70s and not fat.
My parents are cool and do activities with kids and we occasionally take family vacations with them. Slowing just a bit now in their early 70s but that’s life. :( |

She has dementia and is extremely reluctant to change anything about her life. Mostly I just worry about her. Asking for her to be more forthcoming and willing to help me out with my household is a bridge too far.
