This makes no sense imo. Nor does a general personally leading a landing party and wearing a Vest instead of rebel attire. He should’ve beeen a Commander or something.

With Alderaan destroyed, I assume Leia as the sole survivor had the power to do whatever she wanted so she hooked her boyfriend up.

Well, not to get into Current Events, but in this scenario she’s like the son of the Shah so the exiles or whatever accept her Rule.

Was Jimmy Smits necessarily the leader of anything outside of his own planet? Imo rebellions don’t have lines of succession. If Oliver Cromwell got killed then that would be it. The torch wouldn’t pass to Richard Cromwell imo

The torch did pass to Richard Cromwell though, theoretically he could have kept it if he didn’t Bomb.

And how long did the “Republic” rule after ROTJ before whatever machinations started the new evil whatever?

Regardless, I don’t accept anything after 1983 as canon, which is my right as a Gen Xer.

I meant like at the beginning of the rebellion before he became a Despot but I digress.

The ST if fake as hell, PT story exists broadly. One Wan practically summarizes it in ROTJ iirc

he's a cinematic Ascended Scumbag for Losers to idolize imo. luke kissing leia was for Losers to feel like they might ace OCI. ultimately clique is immutable and luke winds up a incel wizard but Losers still think that's a "win."

The prequels failed cause there was no Scumbag like Han. Everyone was boring and Losery. The world is still like 75% Scumbag and they want someone to relate to.

Star Wars is Scummy as hell. Most Eisley is filthy. The guy at the cantina who doesn’t like Luke is realistic af. No one would like him. He’s too Losery. My first time actually paying attention to SW was in the n64 game where you play as a Scumbag bounty hunter. You fight IG88 in a Scummy junkyard. Prequels felt way too sanitized. If you just add a little bit of Scum everything gets realistic af. But I mean if you have cgi Yoda having council meetings wouldn’t that just drown out the Scum? Way to is Scummy imo.

The crazy thing is I think whoever did 7-9 tried to make it “gritty” at first but couldn’t commit. The first scene of Force Awakens is great, you see Stormtroopers on the ground in the muck and getting killed, doing mop-up duty and such. But they had to make it gay and weird to check boxes.

Yeah guys, that's totally the most unrealistic thing about Star Wars. Not the magic swords with unlimited energy, not the space wizards that wield them, but yeah, Han Solo getting an undeserved promotion while fighting with a losing rebellion - that's what really crossed the line.
