I didn't follow the case.
Bottom line it for me. Did the evidence show she did it?
Did she have any help?
How did the state fuck the case up so bad if it's clear she did it?

I know people inside the defense team, she didnt do it.
There was also weird shit going on with the investigation and evidence.
The state couldn't even say how the kid died. Hard to get BRD that way.

yeah, I wasn't lying about that.
I dont think you can get brd with the state's case at trial, but aside from that, I literally spoke to a person on the team who told me she didnt murder the kid. Not that the evidence was weak or that they would be able to create doubt. Specifically that she didnt do it.
I got a Copland vibe from the whole thing. It's clear from the recordings that the mom wasn't involved, but the dad's law enforcement background is crucial.

Pros making 45k a year:
Multi million dollar crimdef attorney doing pro bono work to set themselves up for the rest of their lives:
If you watched the trial in real time the defense did a spectacular job. It's totally obvious that her kid went missing, she never told anyone, and was found murdered. Should be open shut. But prosbros didn't have any evidence linking her directly to the crime. Sometimes it be that way. And yes yuge embarrassment for the state. Should have called Georgia Cappleman.
You think it was would be easy to tie Casey to the kid's death. But it wasn't somehow. There was no timeline. There was no procuring of tools. It does remain somewhat mysterious other than obviously the mom was involved.

There was plenty linking her to the crime:
No one who isn't guilty waits 31 days to report a missing toddler.
Casey's car was found abandoned, the trunk smelled like a corpse, and there was testimony that her daughter's hair was in the trunk with signs that it had come off her daughter's head post-mortem.
There were all kinds of incriminating searches on her computer.
The body was dumped near Casey's house.

It's all circumstantial and all the defense has to do is poke holes in a couple of these. Who said her car smelled like death? Who found the hair? What car doesn't have some of their kid's hair in it.
Look I obviously think she was involved and likely did it. I'm just saying there's all sorts of doubt a competent lawyer could poke in this the state's case.
No murder weapon? No timeline? Nothing to link her to the scene on a specific date and time? Yeah her kid went missing and she didn't report it. Was she at the scene of the crime with the weapon?
The defense sewed enough doubt in a weak circumstantial case to where the jury wasn't swayed. Everything you asserted may or may not have ever been established. Depends on witness credibility. A lot of case come down to who a jury believes on the stand. Unless you were in the courtroom and shown what the jury was shown then you don't know.
