He *should* win probably as it seems like he's the guy who actually loves the soul of the city the most sans maybe Adams in the lineup atm and his policies seem to cover the right points wrt what gentrification is doing to Actual New Yorkers Cuomo is a sclerotic grey suit at a time where American politics are defined by a hatred for sclerotic grey suits and the rape charges are going to tank his support with an already-agitated wrt women's issues Democratic base |

They need to change his messaging to something more explicitly in the realm of Third Way populism to claw back some of the normal DNC working class voters, much of whom are visibly lukewarm on Mamdani's monied "fly-in" heritage and some of his more "out there" proposals. Support for what were previously novelty candidates is a core millennial thing and that combined with the vigilante Batman image could be a splitting point to galvanize youth energy for his campaign |
